Is it really Christmas?

The Christmas tree is up
All the orinaments in place
I don't feel the spirit in my heart
I can't see it on my face

The count down is on for Christmas Eve
24 hours are left
It doesn't feel that way to me

Our first Christmas home
My imagination had us surrounded by family and friends
It's just us
and our kids

Sure we celebrated Christmas a few weeks ago
Things just are so diffrent
without the big family
and snow

The house is clean
My heart just isn't ready
The gifts are wrapped
Nothing feels steady

What is the Christmas season
It's not found beneath a bow
More it is being surrounded
by those you love and know

Maybe I will watch how the Grinch stole Christmas
Take some notes from Cindy Lou Who
Bake some cookies
Sing a carol or two

Sit down and shed a few tears
for the imaginings I had earlier this year
The beauty of the Christmas season
isn't realized till Easter

Maybe that is what it will be for me.
I am so tired of all the shopping chaos
I want Christmas to really be
what it used to

When the family got together
and drama was scarce
When we remembered that being together mattered more
then anything else.

This Christmas is warm
The windows are all open
Please open my heart too
I want to feel Christmas

This year should be different
it feels more like spring
All the more reason for
the season to be realized

Is it really Christmas
I can't really tell
I want it to be Christmas
and hold to it all year
