Relationships take commitment..

Hubby and I have been happily married for almost nine years (this Feb.), we have known each other for ten (this past August). There have been ups and downs, there were times one wasn't sure if the other would make it.. and yet, we are still here. Hubby and I met the old fashioned way.. no not in High School. We met at a bar. From what I understand most everyone was starting to "online date". Admittedly I had toyed with it. But Hubby is one in a million and although I don't see my friend Paula any more, she is the reason I was at the bar the night Hubby and I met.
Ten years, three kids and a few states later. Hubby and I want to reconnect. There are pieces of us that have inadvertently been lost in the shuffle of life. With three children, family closer then they have been, and a budget that screams due to how tight it is. It isn't always easy to come up with idea's to spice things up a bit. So I admit I did what most people do now, I Googled it. Here are some of the things I found.

  1. Weekly dates- Once a week do something together without the kids. Hire a babysitter or switch out watching kids with a friend, chances are they need to get out too.
  2. Dream together- communication is key in any relationship. Talk/listen about each others goals, future plans, current lives, things that make you happy/upset, different ways you love each other, things you would like to work on and things you are grateful for.
  3. Inspiration ~ Look for things in movies, TV shows, books, magazines.. and of course the internet. Find things that inspire you and put your own twist on it. (Love Dare, romantic lottery cards)
  4. Forget Valentines. Boycott Valentines Day- it makes people think they have to be romantic on certain occasions throughout the year. Instead do something romantic once a week.
Here is a list of 50 to start you off.. (caution, some are a little racy)
