No doubt you have noticed the surplus in spaghetti, Goosie LOVES spaghetti, Hubby LOVES pizza. So we will have it often this month. The tamales are also a regular staple.. as I quite enjoy those. I know that there is not much imagination in this months menu. I was honestly running a little short on time along with other things when I made it up. I would like in the coming year to try new recipes, different ethnic foods, and experiment in the kitchen as that is one of the things I enjoy. Check your frozen and dry pantries before going out and doing the shopping. If you get stuck for a recipe try http://www.cooks.com/. Other then that dear readers I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and will have a blessed new year!

Stuff and Other Stuff
I was going through pictures the other day, looking for ones to sum up the year. I realized that I haven't taken as many pictures this year as I have in the past. My trusty camera has not been at residence in my purse and when it has the batteries have been dead. Yes, I fully admit I still enjoy my point and click camera. There are still some things that I enjoy better then technology. Apparently everything I enjoy is out dated. My laptop, DS, Qwerty cell phone, MP3 player and yes I still listen to Cd's(much to Hubby's chagrin). I still enjoy writing in my paper journals as much if not more then here in my blog, and although with so many different knits to chose from I still enjoy knitting things on my own. Goosie is getting an American Girl doll for Christmas. I want to knit them matching sweaters or something. That is if my hands will allow me. My hands it seems are getting worse. I have both tendinitis and carpel tunnel, it's worse in my right hand then in my left. Go figure I am right handed. I enjoy the home arts as they are called, and hope that my children will enjoy them with me.
I can't help but but think of where I was a year ago today. My big-little family and I were celebrating with a friend and her family. It's strange sometimes how things change over the course of a year. There is such a distance between her and I now that it is admittedly painful. I am hurt and there is a part of me that wants more then anything to stop reaching out to make new friends. When I look back at all the friends I have had over the years.. I have grown close to some for a season; but when that season is over it becomes more of an acquaintance. I wish I knew how to break the cycle. I want to foster relationships with other women for longer then just a season.. any advise? Hubby was also hurt in the past by someone he considered a friend.. thus when it comes time for either of us to lean on someone, it is automatically the other. This is good and also bad. It is important for both of us to have friendship relationships outside of each other, so that we can grow as individuals. Things can change allot over a year, and as individuals it is important that we learn to grow and change with them. In the coming year there will be more obstacles, trials and issues that will be dealt with. Hubby and I will celebrate our eighth wedding anniversary, our children's age's will change to 3,5 and 7. There is no telling what may lay ahead. I am thankful that I will walk the road with Hubby at my side and God carrying both of us at times.
Until next time dear readers.. I hope you are all blessed. And remember that scars are tougher then what was there to begin with.. so although you may get hurt be sure you don't allow yourself to harden so much that the love and friendship of other's cannot be felt.

Hard to write.. Hard to read.
Oh the things that happen when things get busy..! So much has already happened this week and we are just getting into the middle of the month! The meals are wonderful by the way! I recommend you trying some if you haven't yet. Today is the second snow day of the school year. The kids are excited of course and I am planning to make cookies with them later today. But on to all the catch-up. The last Sunday in November Hubby brought home a rescue dog. We named him Rufus and for the most part the kids were excited to have him. Rufus would listen.. to Hubby and I, but that was about it. This had me a bit stressed from the start. Let me stop now and say that I am not against rescuing animals. One of the best places to get a cat or dog is at a pound or shelter. Hubby and I had done it before we had children. It was a cat then, but that is another rabbit trail. Rufus was not a match for us. I had my doubts and hind sight being what it is, both Hubby and I feel guilty.
So no more suspense.. here is what happened. Goosie, Miniman and Bubbles were on the main floor of the house with Rufus and I had gone down to the basement to get a pizza from the freezer. While I was down there I thought to change over the laundry and just before heading back up the stairs I heard it. Horrified screaming coming from the living room. The girls were terrified and Miniman was frantic to say the least. When I got to the scene Miniman was on the floor, Rufus was on top of him, Bubbles was at his hind-quarters and Goosie was across the room planted on one of the chairs. I pulled Rufus off of Miniman and took him upstairs, and after shutting him in the bathroom went back down to tend to Miniman. I picked him up off the floor smelling saliva, urine and blood. I sat him down and gave him the once over. Admittedly I only saw the injury to his ear. So I cleaned that, called Hubby and told him that Rufus needed to go. I was in shock and can honestly say that I only wanted there to be one injury. But there was more. After cleaning Miniman's ear, he told me that his chest under his arm hurt. I asked him if we could lift his shirt. He helped me take it off. That's when I saw the worst of it. Miniman has scrape and bite marks on his left shoulder blade. When he lifted up his arm I could see into his little body. The bite had gone down to the muscle layer. I immediately made another call. My neighbor was home, and I asked if I could drop off the girls. I explained the situation as best as I could, and thankfully she agreed. Miniman didn't want to go the E.R. with urine all over his pants and one could hardly blame him. I changed his pants and after dropping the girls off, drove to the nearest E.R., I didn't trust myself to go all the way to Children's hospital and was confidant that if the situation was too much we would be transported to the Children's hospital by ambulance.
After the initial once over, Miniman had to be x-rayed to make sure the bites had not breached the chest cavity and punctured the lung. Waiting for the x-rays to come back was horrid. Miniman was waiting to be medicated and I was trying to hold it together mentally. I tried singing to him a song I would sing to calm him down when he was a baby and not feeling his best. But that just served to choke me up more. So I prayed. " God, you gave me this beautiful boy. He is hurting and it is a pain I can't fix. Please give him comfort and peace through this. Make me the Mom he needs me to be right now instead of the frail one I am. I claim healing and wholeness and once again today I give my son to you. May you use him and this situation for your glory." It was a silent prayer, and said quickly. Afterwards I felt and overwhelming peace invade me. Miniman calmed down also and for the rest of the E.R. stay he and I were emotionally better then we came in. The x-rays came back and praise be to God, his lung wasn't punctured, although the bites were deep they didn't go beyond the layer of muscle in his little body. Now it was time for the shots. Two of them, one in each little butt cheek. Miniman didn't want the shots, no one ever does. The nurses joked that his little butt was as tight as they had ever seen one. Miniman wasn't lethargic by any means, He still didn't want to be there. Hubby made it to the hospital around this time, he left shortly after his arrival. Hubby did ask if I was okay to handle the situation on my own until he returned. I let him go telling him with all confidence that I could handle it.
Miniman and I were left in the room again to wait. He was tired, the shock was starting to wear off, his shaking had stopped and his whimpering had quieted to a soft murmur. I assured him that he could rest. He said that he wanted to be cleaned up first. I didn't want things to take Miniman by surprise anymore that night so I talked him through it all. He told me that he was scared, that he didn't want to do it. I told him that being brave was being scared and doing it anyway. After talking him through every step Miniman would comply. It was after the second set of shots just before the clean-up started that Hubby returned. Miniman was velcroed into a papoose of sorts. He couldn't move his waist down and I was holding his little hands gently above his head. He layed on his right side so that his damaged left could be looked after. The nurse asked me to leave, telling me that many parents choose to because they couldn't handle the thought let alone the sight of their child being in such a state. I stood my ground. I told Miniman before we left the house that I would not leave his side, I would hold his hand through all of it and never leave him alone. So I moved to the other side of the bed. Hubby came through the privacy curtains, he assured me that things were taken care of at home and asked if I wanted to leave the room. I told him I wouldn't leave, I promised Miniman. I asked Hubby quietly to remind Miniman how strong and brave he was being. Hubby did, holding back emotions of his own. Thus the hardest part began.
The nurses hands were quick and nimble, I am sure I am not the only mom who wished the nurses hands were more gentle. The cleaning had to be complete or the risk of infection would be high. Dog bites are notorious for germs in so many bad ways. Miniman needed stitches, he didn't know what they were and I could see a bit of annoyance on the nurses face when I told Miniman that he was going to need them. I let it pass, nothing was going to make me keep anything from my son. I told him that stitches are like band aids, they just stay on a little longer. I reminded him of the stitches that both Hubby and I had. Telling him that he would be the only guy in his class with stitches, and that the other kids would think he was brave and tough. He complied, although he complained after each of the nine stitches were placed and asked if it were the last one. We counted down each stitch with him. " Four more.. Two more.. last one buddy, you are so brave!"
After the stitches were complete, ointment was applied and Miniman became half mummy wrapped. Hubby left to pick up the girls and get them settled back at home. Miniman and I stayed in the room until he received his first dose of antibiotic. Miniman's eyes started drooping, his breathing had calmed to that of sleep and as I rocked him gently I sang him once again the song that had brought him so much comfort in his four and a half short-long years. Tears of relief fell quietly from my eyes and although I could feel emotion tugging on my heart my voice stayed steady. Miniman looked at me lazily and asked to go home. I assured him that we were going home soon. " No more shots?" he asked me. " No more shots I assured him." He then layed his tired head on my chest and started to give in to exhaustion. After getting the release papers I bundled him up once again and headed out into the falling snow. I buckled him in and headed back to the house. Miniman was asleep by the time we made it to the house. Hubby had made it home with the girls and we started working on getting them settled for the night.
After getting the girls to bed, I called my mom. It was the third phone call I had made that night, and the first one that wasn't an emergency call. There is something about calling Mom when your world gets turned on it's head. Although she is states away she still comforts me as if she is right there. After cleaning up, Hubby and I just held each other. Quietness enveloped the house and in the silence there was relief.
Miniman is doing better and better everyday. The day after was the hardest, but the following day he was ready for Preschool again. I took him and asked his teachers to keep an eye on him and watch for rough housing. They assured me that they would. Miniman has been diligent about taking his medication, and keeping things as clean as a four year old can. We are already thinking of getting another dog sometime in the future. We are thinking of starting out with a small one, allowing Miniman to pick it out of a litter. Moving up in size from there. I don't want him to have a fear or dislike of dogs or other animals. I want to foster the love of animals in his tender heart while things are still fresh. With much involvement on both mine and Hubby's part. Until Miniman is confidant on his own we won't leave him alone with a dog. We will not foster fear however.. it is a fine line and we must find our way to toe it.
Well dear readers, I hope you and yours are doing well. Due to the graphic nature of dog bites I will not be posting any pictures, I am sure you understand. Miniman will have scars, but they will fade over time and unless he chooses to play a shirtless sport; no one will see them. Until next time dear readers.. I am thankful and I pray that you are also thankful for all of your blessings. Remember that even when bad things happen there are things to be thankful for. Be blessed!

Thanksgiving..Yes I posted recipes
It is the day before another national holiday. Families are traveling to see one another, friends who are close by are swapping recipes and at times listening as the other bemoans the cooking and cleaning to come. There is a lot that can be misplaced on this auspicious day. As a nation we give thanks for our freedoms. We think of the Pilgrims who crossed an ocean to escape persecution and start a new world where they could worship without someone telling them when or how. We think of the American Indians who were here before the English settlers, who had to deal with all these new people coming in to "settle" a new nation. I think of my creator. How he provides so much for me and not only my Big family, but also my Little big family. There is truly much to be thankful for this year. My sister N's Mr. Man is home from the middle east, safe with the ones he loves and who love and cherish him in return. He is the only one that has been getting deployed, so many of the families prayers have been concentrated on N and her little family. S is getting better and better. Hubby is a different man then he was a year ago. There has been much that has happened. C gave birth to a special little guy, and my other sisters are all very blessed indeed. Yes, there is much to be thankful for this year. I am sure when all the ones are together in the south go around the table and say their "Thankfuls" the tissue box will make an appearance.
Now about that dinner tomorrow. I am starting to bake and do a few other things today to get things ready for tomorrow. Hubby will be off work, Goosie doesn't have school and this year we have the added blessing of my parents being here for the holiday. Mom says that she will help in the kitchen and I have no doubt that this will be a meal to remember, I just want to get some things done today.. besides cleaning and continuing the potty training of Bubbles (she is taking to it this time), I promised recipes so here are a few...( follow the links) Citrus Turkey , Cranberry Orange Relish , Roasted Veggies , Macaroni&Cheese , and Rolls . I hope this can get you started. I am going to be making everything but the rolls as I have a bread machine. If you have a bread machine I recommend you using it for your dinner rolls instead. Today I will be making the pies, pumpkin bread, and the relish. There isn't really any thing else I can do except the general house cleaning I normally do on Wednesday's. Well, that is all for me today dear readers. I hope you have a blessed and filling holiday and that you enjoy your Thankful's to their fullest, and if you are ever wondering what there is to be thankful for.. just look around and count your blessings.
A Song I Heard.. A Reminder For Us All
I found another one.. yes my dear readers, another tear jerking heart wrenching song that is a simple reminder of God's great and wonderful love for us. Oh that I had the talent to sing it for you, alas I fear I would be too overcome by emotion to even finish the first verse of this song.
I was driving home today after dropping Miniman off at at preschool, Bubbles was nodding off in her car seat behind me and this song comes on the radio. It immediately struck a cord and I have to stop myself from going out to get the CD it is on. It is another one of those songs that make you think. Not just a little bit, for me it makes me think deeply about how much I am giving to him. I know that each of us have our own thought images of God.. I think I should share with you mine.
God is to me like a scientist peering down on us through his microscope. To me He is so big that I can only think of him in this way. We here on earth are like a single cell organism. We each have our own parts to play within the cell otherwise the cell it's self would not work. However we are guided by the nucleus in this case it would be the Holy Spirit. You see God can use anyone and anything to bring about His will and purpose, His hand is in everything and holds everything at the same time. As not only a biologist He is also a Physician, Mathematician and so very much more. Think of a medical or scientific term and guess what He has already been there, and done that. There is nothing He hasn't done or will do. When you have a problem or are going through a difficult time he waits with anticipation for you to call on him and when you do, his heart rejoices. Think of it this way: If you are a parent and have a child who is struggling with homework and you know that you can help them understand it, you wait until they ask you for help. If you force yourself on the situation they might reject not only the subject but also your help. To me God is similar. He will never force himself on anyone and waits patiently for us to realize that we need help. As soon as we ask, even before the words are removed from our lips he is there. How great is he, how wonderful and mighty!! Oh, dear readers I hope you are excited.. I get excited just thinking about how wonderful God is, feel so humbly that my wonderful creator thinks so much of me that he looks down on me with love. Oh, how he loves each of us!! I know that this entry is just scraping the surface of many conversations.. I would love to share some with you. Just think of how wonderful and gracious Our Heavenly Father is!! Well, I must be off to pick up children. Be blessed dear readers and remember you are never alone.. he is always with you!!

Veteran's Day
This year like many other's Hubby was asked to give a Veteran's Day speech at a local High School. After the teenager's were corralled into the gym, the din of noise subdued; Hubby was introduced. Hubby diligently works on each of his speeches on order to covey the most poignant of meanings: the Freedoms we in the US enjoy and at times flaunt so halfheartedly are not in any way cheap to come by. Countless men and women have defended them, some to the point of giving their own lives. It is said that a A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. That is beyond honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact. There are two calendar days set aside for remembering the sacrifice of so many. Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. While the first is meant to pay homage to those who have finished the fight and gone on to more peaceful places. The second is meant as a reminder and encouragement to all those who are still serving. Whether it is in the military or as a civil servant. These individuals run to the fray when others do their best to get away from it. Hubby's speech was captured on video this year and I am glad to say that you will find it above. Yes, there are two calendar day's in which we can honor our veteran's and civil servant's, but shouldn't we find a way to thank and honor them everyday??

Synopsis Of Events
Hello my dear readers.. I know it has been a while and I must say that things have gotten busy once again here in the house on the hill. Hubby and I have an upcoming formal, Goosie is reading anything she can get her hands on, Miniman is at a stage where he will make something and then tear it apart before anyone else gets to appreciate it , and Bubbles is quite the bruiser. That's the simple run down.. so here is the breakdown.
Every year for one weekend Hubby and I have an Annual Training Conference. Usually there is a small party on Friday night with a large formal dinner on Saturday. Then on Sunday morning things get wrapped up until the next year. Hubby is always handsome in his Dress uniform and I try to compliment him in a formal gown. The kids are taken care of for the weekend mostly on site and all in all it is a good weekend. The formal is coming up soon, just a few weeks, and things are slowly coming together. Hubby had to get a new dress uniform; I needed a new dress( both of which we now have) and it is only the smaller things to take care of. On a side note, I am trying to get the house ready for my parent's visit at Thanksgiving. We are all excited, as we have had to travel south for the holidays to see them it is such a blessing to know that they will be here this year. The kids are really looking forward to seeing them as we got glimpses of them during our Labor Day trip.
Goosie has become quite the book worm and so far she enjoys Fancy Nancy I picked up a book for her the other day and she has already read it three times! Goosie also told me that she wants all of the Fancy Nancy books! Having books that she enjoys is not something I mind at all! So now I am on the hunt for as many of them as I can find. I think I may also introduce her to Pinkalicious, we will just have to see. Goosie is also a sharp little tack! She may be the smallest and youngest in her first grade class, but that doesn't stop her from shining! Her teacher tells me that if every student came in with the same attitude and enthusiasm as Goosie, her job would be easy! What better compliment could a parent hope to hear about her child?!
Miniman is also doing wonderfully. He is writing his name and spelling out as many things as he can. His teachers tell me that he is always asking them how he can help. It's funny I was getting out of the shower the other day and Miniman came in my room.. he needed help zipping up his pj's.. I asked him where Hubby was and his response was "do you need help with something?".. keep in mind I was wrapped in my bathrobe. But ever helpful is my Miniman! There are other ways he is exceptional in helping. Wether it is cleaning a room, taking stuff to the garbage can or putting dishes away.. Miniman is ready to help. Miniman is a wonderful boy. He is excited about the things that Hubby is interested in and looses interest in the things that just aren't really attention holders for the average four year old. Miniman is not quite athletic but he is admit about the things he enjoys and is just getting started on super hero's.
Bubbles is quite frankly a bruiser. She is fearless. If there ever were a child who would leap before looking she would be the one. Her pointer finger on her right hand the other day was crushed. I can honestly say that I was horrified, but thankful that she is okay. There was some bleeding and the next day since it looked worse a trip to the emergency room. They took x-rays and I requested that her tiny finger be put in a splint. Since her finger is still mostly cartilage the phalanges was neither broken nor were there any fissures (smaller breaks or cracks). She of course had both the splint and wrappings off of her finger before we had lunch let alone made it back home. Bubbles is still living up to her name. Quite the bubbly personality, which others get a kick out of. Bubbles is quite the kick in the pants! She is also a bright little star. When I hear her sing Jesus Loves Me, I must admit that my heart swells with pride. How sweet and innocent the sound of her little voice giving me goosebumps and reminding me of the tender heart we are all called to have.
Other than that dear readers there is not much to report. I have been working every weekend since starting my new job. I work only two or three days a week, considering those days are all on the weekend I can sometimes be putting in a thirty hour work week in three short days. I am not complaining though. It is nice to get out and do something that doesn't require changing diapers. I am getting to know myself a little better and understanding more of who I have become as both an adult and a mom. Despite what some may think.. once you become a Mom you are one for the rest of your life and will forever look at the world through not only the eyes of a parent, but at times the eyes of a child. For now dear readers, be blessed!

Vision's of Autumn
It's that time of year again here in the North East. Leaves are changing colors, pumpkins grow ripe for the picking, corn mazes are all the rage. As I drive home today from picking up Miniman from Preschool I see the grey pregnant clouds quietly rolling in. Another fall of rain is probably in the mix for the day, if not tomorrow. My three mess makers are some-what quietly coloring in the dining room. Three pumpkins have already been carved, leaving only mine and Hubby's to be dismembered for the sake of a bit of time which we can let the kids hidden so well away inside ourselves out to play. I can't resist looking outside at the marvel of colors that exploit themselves this time of the year. There are tree's that turn red as cranberries, others make the tree they are on for a time look as if it harbors lemons and limes. There are a few sparsely mixed throughout that are naked baring themselves ready for the coming cold. The evergreens are staggered about, in bushes and trees. Making others jealous of their year round splendor only to be scoffed or looked at with sorrow when a branch breaks under the weight of both nettles and snow.
I have come to appreciate orange. It's many different hues are the palate of Autumn. You can see it best in the pumpkins. The jack-o-lantern size have a range of their own. From burnt orange to school bus orange-yellow. Pie pumpkins which are mistakenly called "baby pumpkins" are really the only edible ones. They have a sweet taste to them and when roasted with just a pinch of sugar and salt they are truly a delight. There are some who go around looking for the most grotesque of pumpkins for their fall decorations. Sadly there are other's who will look at the many pumpkins in disbelief as they think they will never own one of their own. Some growers humbly let their small crops go for free on the side of the road while others charge a dollar or two a pound. The E.R. will have it's share of patients, if they haven't started seeing them already. There are thumbs that will need to be re-attached and gashes stitched back together. All in the name of fun, and some mayhem of course. But back to the splendor of the season. Children have decided by now what they want to dress-up as for Beggar's night. But over all the grass is still mostly green, some trees are hesitant to release their leaves, and parents are once again looking for longer sleeves to add as layers under the shorter sleeves that were purchased for spring and summer. Well my dear readers.. the mess makers are no longer coloring so alas my time has come to a close for now. I will try to write again later! Be blessed!!

Letter of Resignation??
Dear house~ I have given up on keeping you clean. Every time I try to clean you one of my mess makers do their job. The laundry gets piled to precarious heights whether it is clean or dirty so that said mess makers can play in them. Toys~ I really wish you would keep out from under my feet, as you either hurt said feet or throw my back out. Dishes~ since my electronic washer broke and I have since had to switch to manual cleaning, you may or may not be in bigger stacks depending on the day. Bathrooms~ previous occupants caused one of you to reek in the worst way, only ripping you out would help. With the other two.. lets just say I wish you were self-cleaning. Kitchen~ I wish you were a little more cook friendly. An island would be nice, just saying. Floors~ oh that you were not all laminate.. I sweep, sweep, sweep to no avail. The dust bunnies only scamper away taunting me with their eyeless faces. I resign.. no more for me. I want to be done. Not just for today, for a long time. Sincerely, This Housewife
I like many other housewives, I am sure, grow tired of cleaning. It never seems like it stays done, wait.. if I clean it all before I go to bed then it will stay clean over night. Just how exactly do you do it all?? I am baffled. Between my part-time job, the kids, Hubby working all the time and the various activities we have involved ourselves in. I really do wish the house would clean it's self. There is a line in a song from Le Miserables it translates something like this : "At the end of the day your another day older, and that's all you can say for the life of the poor. It's a struggle it's a war and there is nothing that any one's giving one more day standing about what is it for". Well if I could take some artistic license ( which I will) I would say the housewife song would start something like this ( in the same tune and key of course): " At the end of the day your another day older, and that's all you can say for the life of a Mom, it's a struggle it's a war and there is nothing that any one's giving, one more day holding it all together what is it for?" . Some of you may or may not find the humor in my little spunky tune. With carpel tunnel setting into both my hands, tendinitis joining along for the ride and the all around sense that my body though not looking it's age is slowly falling apart. My eyes have been going for years and now my hair is starting to come out in gobs as I rinse it in the shower. I think I am starting to feel my age. My temperament has also changed a bit. Where I could be patient for a while.. now I am finding myself saying that " I just can't do it today".
I must admit that I started reading a book called The Way Of The Master it is quite good and I agree with the author on many points already and I am only at the start of the sixth chapter. I am also doing a few Bible studies. Momology, Revelations and my daily readings are keeping me involved. There is at times a feeling of being overwhelmed. The kids are going more then a little crazy, the house is a wreck ( no matter how many times I go after them cleaning it up) and I grow weary. In the movie Robots the father figure is putting himself back together with ductape because he can't find replacement parts. I am not saying that ductape is holding me together. But I am saying that it is something stronger then I am on my own. I gave some advice to a soon to be mom the other day it was this: " You will have good day's and bad, there will be times you question your sanity and God would entrust you with someone you feel so ill equipped to care for. But take heart, he knew what he was doing and there is no better Momma for your child then you." I have to remind myself of that sometimes. Someday's it is multiple times during that day. My kids make me insanely happy. At times it is only the latter part but over all happy. The house can wait. The phone can ring, the laundry will maybe one day care for it's self. I want to enjoy them now. It is a limited time offer this childhood, take advantage of it while you can! Until next time dear readers.. be Blessed.

~~ On a side note, breakfast and lunch are cheaper when made and brought from home. I make Goosie's lunch's three day's a week and she buy's lunch the other two (she is learning responsability). Hubby takes his lunch to work and mostly has been skipping breakfast. The breakfast items you see (muffins and bagels) are for him. Also some of the dinners are a quick and easy fix so Hubby doesn't have to worry much when I am working. A healthy family is a happy family and a well balanced diet is a good place to start. Good luck shopping and as always check your frozen/dry and refigerated pantries before shopping!

Goosie
This morning was very exciting. Hubby was nervous, Goose has been talking for a week and literally counting down the days.. and this morning she was baptised. Like the lame mushy Momma I can be.. I forgot to press record. So long story short.. no video post. But I will try my hardest to describe the event all all that lead up to it.
About two weeks ago we were on our way to church, Hubby and I were discussing our daily reading passage which covered when John the Baptist baptised Jesus. From the back of the big black truck we hear Goosie's voice say " Mommy, Daddy I want to get baptised". Quizzical looks passed between Hubby and I, then Hubby said that he thought it would be a good idea for her to talk to the Children's Ministry leader Mr. B . So while at the church the next day after dropping of Miniman to his preschool I went to the church office and asked to speak to Mr B; upon meeting with Mr B I shared with him Goosie's request and set up a time for Goosie to come and answer some questions to see if she understood what baptism meant. The meeting would be in a few days. Goosie was excited and couldn't wait for the meeting with Mr B. So on the appointed day I ushered Goosie into a conferance room, and proceeded just to listen. Goosie is very bright indeed and after it was all over Mr B said that he was confidant that Goosie knows what she is asking for and that now we just needed to set up a time/day when to do it. After service the next Sunday, Hubby surprised me. We were sharing with Pastor Z what all was happening when Z looked at Hubby and asked if Hubby would like to baptise Goosie. As many of you know.. I cried.
The date was set for today, during the second service at our local church. Goosie bubbled with excitement and understandably had many questions the night before. I explained to her that when you are baptised you are re-born into God's family. That before you accept Christ as your Savior and are baptised you are not a part of God's family. But that since you can't go back into Mommy's belly, Jesus told us a way to show everyone that we are being re-born into the family of God and that he is adopting us as his child. Goosie understands birth and adoption because we had covered these subjects before. Hubby and I also presented Goosie with a new Bible. An Adventure Bible, she is already reading it and enjoys telling us what it says. I digress.. back to this morning. The sanctuary is quite full and there are only a few seats if you ask people to scoot in a little closer (lol). I am at the front, camera charged and in hand. The choir has finished their last selection and the lights are dimming. Hubby steps into the baptismal pool, which has been lit up, with Goosie in his arms. He then says something like this: Today I am gong to baptise my daughter Goosie. Goosie means a lot to us and after accepting Christ in her heart she now wants to be baptised. Hubby then turns to Goosie (who now upon seeing all the congregation is shy) and asks her to repeat after him; her declaration of faith. I can't remember all of it and Goosie was hard to hear as at first we in the congregate could see her lips move and then not much of anything as she was repeating everything into Hubby's arm pit. Hubby then tells Goosie to hold her nose, and as he starts to dunk her.. the congregate chuckles a little as her arms are flailing just a bit. Goosie comes up out of the water, there is a big grin on her face..Hubby is teary eyed as am I. Hubby then carries her out of the baptismal pool as the congregate is still applauding.
Goosie still can't stop talking about it, and Hubby mentioned on the way home that he couldn't understand why other's in the congregate were tearing up. So I tried to explain it all to him. There are many things that people see in a church. One of the more powerfully charged emotional ones is when a Father carries his role with dignity and pride, then takes a further step towards spiritually leading his family, by public affirmation of his children's faith and supporting them in their decision.
There has been much that has been happening to my big little family as we live in the house on the hill. I would have to start a whole other entry. This is just a peek at all the good things that have been happening. Some would say it is about time for us and others would say (with warning) don't put that armor away just yet. While the blessings flow there will be a time of trial still to come. Thank you Lord that you see my big little family, and that you carry us through so much. Well dear readers, as I wipe yet more tears streaming from my eyes.. I will close this entry and wish you all Blessings.

Alive ( a poem by J. Rosener)
Alive
by Jeffrey Rosener
As I approach the pearly gates, I stop to remember when,
the time that I felt most alive, where boys were forced to be men.
...My hands begin to tremble, so I light myself a smoke.
Reliving all the sad times, laughing at the jokes.
As I continue walking, I see St Peters' face.
Friends and family all behind him, angels sing amazing grace.
I stand tall before him, and render a salute,
St. Peter looks me up and down, and even at my boots!
He said "your boots are muddy son! Your uniform's not clean.
You haven't seen a shave in weeks. Your teeth are O.D green!"
I smile into his steely eyes and lower my salute,
and stare down at my grimy hands, and at my worn out boots.
Recalling what these hands have done, and where these boots have tread,
I say "I want to feel the way, that I did back then!"
"The time that I felt most alive, the time that rung my bell,
is when I walked amongst HERO'S... through the streets of HELL!"
"Men of such great stature, stories never could explain,
Their courage under fire, and all lives that were gave."
"Our minds as sharp as razors, and our hands as cold as steel.
We'd tread as light as feathers, and Death we'd often deal.
Although we did see terror. It kept our senses keen.
We were rough around the edges, but our HONOR still kept clean."
"My brothers, we shared everything. Even our darkest fears,
but together we overcame them, with our blood, sweat, and tears."
"Together we cried mournfully, for the hero's that were lost,
but continued on, and fought the fight, we knew freedom was their cost!
St. Peter I've seen wonders, thought my eyes would never see.
But no love for me was greater, than the blood shed for me."
St. Peter raised his hand and put it in my greasy hair,
and in the softest voice he spoke, " You've bore your cross to bear!
And as for the terrors that were fought, and the horrors that were seen.
Just know that angels covered you, with outstretched golden wings."
"Every prayer for you was answered, from you family and friends
and also the ones from you to us, to keep an eye on them!
So enter now, your chin held high, walk peacefully through our streets.
I know that you'll appreciate it, more than most men that I meet!"
St. Peter said... "remember son, you've paid your price to pay!
You carried that with you throughout your life, until your dying day.
You fought hard for home and hearth, and served your country well,
So rest at ease, you've made your peace,
your demons are in HELL!!!
I found this poem on facebook, it was posted on a paged dedicated to a recently fallen solider. Needless to say it moved me to tears and I wanted to share.

A Demise of Tea Cups
This pale blue tea cup started it all. Hubby bought it for me just after he proposed. We were still living in Ocean Shores Wa. and after scouring antique shops I truly appreciated this one. Hubby bought it for me and I have enjoyed many cups of tea and coffee from it. I am thankful it survived the fall.
This tea cup I bought off of Ebay. As soon as I saw it I wanted it. It was as if the beautiful back lacquer was calling to me. The hand painted rose on the inner lip did me in. I have told my sister S that when she comes to visit, this will be her tea cup to use. S has joked for as long as I can recall that she is the black sheep of the family, what better then a black tea cup to celebrate!
Wonder of wonder the yellow rose also survived. She too is one of my favorites ( they all are). This tea cup reminds me of my sister C. It's simple beauty could be over looked, but if you did you would miss the wonderful detail of it's moderate adornment. Hubby bought this one for me also in Wa., it is part of a mismatched set that was the beginnings of a tea cup collection.
This beauty was my Mother's Day gift this year. Yes, it was another Ebay find and I am sure the seller would have a heart attack to see what has become of the saucer. When it fell it split right down the middle. I can fix it of course. Thankfully the cup it's self was not damaged so with a little super glue, and a careful hand. This tea cup can return to my many uses of it. Just hold the plate fully!! This one reminds me of my sister N. She is so full of life and vibrant. I know it's colors are muted, but the scene is full of life and color. I will enjoy sharing a cup of tea with her one day.
This tea cup is also from the mismatched set. This one has small roses all over it and I have also enjoyed many cups of both tea and coffee from it. This cup reminds me of my sister I. Elegant and sophisticated, and in it's own way toned down enough to fit in with the other eccentric pairs in the set. I has come for a visist and I had forgotten in all the rush to sit and enjoy some tea. Tea you see is a good way to catch up on all the things you miss out on and although they may be tea cups you most certainly may have coffee in them instead! A little glue on the handle and it will be usable one more, the beverage of choice will have to be not too hot and not too cold, but just right! The Forget-me-not's. Their beautiful blue has cheered me on many a dull day. This is V's cup. She visited me once and I forgot to get my set out and have a hot cup of tea with her. The tea cups after all are about the memories made with them not just the ones you make staring at them. V has been my best sister friend for as long as I can remember. I will have to repair the saucer, but the cup is once again thankfully undamaged. A little super glue and things will be better. This one also came from the mismatched tea set.
Here is the most damaged. It will also go in a shadow box. the saucer is untouched. The cup is not replaceable. This was also one of the mismatched sets. This cup and saucer reminded me of my sister L. It isn't elaborate in decoration but it is beautiful and full of character. I haven't had a cup of tea with L and it seems I will have to now find her a new cup. Alas the first time she will see her cup is in the pretty picture pile now on my blog.
This tragic tea cup and saucer got the second worst of it. I am thinking of putting it in a shadow box. It now needs to be replaced. This one reminds me of Christmas. I realize that nothing on it screams tis the season. But to me, Christmas is comfort and being around those whom you love. They inspire you and challenge you all the while they nudge you on loving you regardless of the outcomes of your decisions. It's a safe place to land. This cup reminded me of my Mom. It was also part of the mismatched tea set.
The only woman in my family who has yet to have a tea cup is G. She is difficult to find one for, although I am sure she would have a laugh at that. G is wonderful, strong, independent and has always looked a little different then the rest of us. But she also fits right in. Without G my big family wouldn't be complete and without a cup and saucer for her my set is not complete. So I will keep looking and I hope that by the time she comes for a visit I will have a special cup pairing for her also. Until next time dear readers! Be blessed!
The Close of Summer
Summer has come to a close to the house on the hill. School has started for the oldest two offspring, and Bubbles is finding that naps are not such a bad thing after all. Every morning after waving bye to Hubby; Miniman, Bubbles and I walk Goosie to the bus stop. His knees are from running precariously down the hill and falling gloriously on them.
But Miniman isn't the only one changing. Bubble's is finding more and more ways to get into things she shouldn't. No doubt taking notes from Goosie she has begun to take pictures. The one below is probably the first of many. All three of the children are artsy. And being a little artsy myself I won't be the one to drown it out ( neither will Hubby).
Well, that about sum's things up for a bit. Not much of anything else has been happening. I have a new job since the Drive-in theater is closing for the season, more for my sanity then anything. Everyone is adjusting to the new routine and I am once again left to ponder how those parents who choose to homeschooling get it all done. I admit that I am taking responsibility for Goosie's school work in a way I never had before. If she fails a test, it is not her fault. It is mine; for not insuring that the information she has to learn has in fact been learned. I struggle with study habits often putting things off till the last moment an then rushing to get it done. I do have the desire to change and I am finding that the more I instill good habits in Goosie the more they are in fact also instilled in me. We are always learning, I have even started taking guitar lessons. Well enough for now dear readers.. I will write more a little later, be blessed!

My visit with R
Last night I had the pleasure of taking a meal to a newly widowed woman. Admittedly I was nervous at first, I wasn't sure what comfort I could offer her in what to me would be such a desperate time. I would certainly want my family around; hers is around they just aren't next door. As I neared the retirement complex my heart went out to R. The streets were quiet, signs posted here and there to watch for children at play and that the speed limit was 25. I drove a rapid 15 to be safe, mostly because I was lost and the street signs confused me a bit. When I finally arrived to her home with the Shepperd's Pie in hand I said a prayer. The Lord knew what she needed better then I did, and I just needed to be willing. I had left all distractions in the truck, so with only my keys and her dinner I rang the door bell.
I was instantly greeted by an exuberant dog ( I found out later his name is Zeus). I put my hand down so he could see I was friendly, and entered the house. It was warm. Warm in the sense that R was still devotedly loved and severely cared for. R and I talked. We talked about our husbands; our children; the families we grew up in; the different jobs we both had; and the things we enjoy doing with our spare time. R told me about settling her parents estates; the daunting task of settling her husbands and of the many wonderful trips they would take down to the Florida coast. " He loved it there" she said " So much so that if I didn't like it so much here, he would have moved us, but Florida is a place to visit not a place to live.. I like the four seasons too much!".
All in all I listened while she talked. It was refreshing, to hear the recall of fifty-nine years of marriage, the short courtship they had (only two months) and the childeren they raised. Sitting on the floor at her feet my hand absent-mindidly rubbing Zeus' belly, just listening. She showed me pictures, and told me how she still sensed him with her. He would be sitting in his chair or on his side of the table. Their house was full of memories.. she even shared with me the way he died and how hard it was for her to say goodbye. I shared with her my own experiances with Hubby's health, and when she cried my arms were not empty, nor were my eyes. Towards the end I let R know that I needed to make my way home. In a sense I didn't want to leave. Not because I knew she would be physically alone, but because I genuinly enjoied her company. I invited her to the house ( I know childeren are a wonderful distraction), left my number in case she needed a ride anywhere or just wanted to get out. R was a pleasure to meet and I am thankful I was able to bring her a meal. I am sad it was under such circumstances, but thankful all the same. We may never know the impact we have on anothers life.. all we are aware of is the impact they have on ours. My meeting with R has made me all the more thankful for the wonderful things in my life.. and thankful that I have someone new who I can sit and knit with! Be blessed dear readers!

It's a Roller Coaster Ride.. so when do I coast??
About two weeks ago Hubby and I had a run in with poison ivy. He was itchy all over like you wouldn't believe. I thankfully only had it on my hands and arms. So last week when Hubby once again broke out in itchy bumps on his neck he thought it was poison ivy. Well, it wasn't. And after asking him to go to the Doctor a few times, he finally went. At first he was told he had foliculitis which is basically a bacterial infection in the hair follicle. He was given antibiotics and sent on his way. Only a few miles down the road, his face became numb and paralyzed on the right side. He then went again to the ER ( a different one) and this time was diagnosed correctly. Hubby has shingles, and Basil Palsy. Both are temporary, the palsy can last u to six months. The blessing is that this too shall pass. The last time I talked to him, he couldn't close his eyelid, and is not sure if he will just have to put a patch over his eye or if they are going to try to splint it shut. I can honestly tell you dear readers that when he first told me of the paralysis the first thing that popped into my head was a stroke. To then find that it is not a stroke.. I cannot begin to express my gratefulness. So prayer is what I am asking for.
Over the Labor Day weekend we went south for a family reunion. All of my sister's were there along with their children. the only one missing was N's Mr. Man. He is still deployed in the sandbox, and he was very missed. I can honestly say that whenever I saw all the brother-in-laws standing around together.. I just expected to see him in the mix. N and he are a good pair.. they compliment each other well. It was fun, but also chaotic. With eight sisters, sixteen children, and six brother-in-laws all in one house.. it looked like some sort of convention! Mom and Dad were in the middle of all the chaos. Mom smiling, her skirt shaking; Dad taking pictures and promising us all that we would have a copy of the pictures soon. It was the home I grew up in, at least my definition of home. Home to me is where your heart finds comfort,
encouragement and rest. While I didn't find too much rest because there was too much to take in all at once, I did find comfort and encouragement. So while it was at my sister G's house, it was home.
The trip there and back was uneventful, and we arrived to both destinations safely. Now it is just getting things ready for later. Thanksgiving we will be welcoming both my parents, and one of my sisters along with her family( I think her family). There is much to do and I don't like to be caught with things not done when I have had ample time to do them. So the basement is 3/4 of the way finished. There is just more to do and then it is the task of keeping it all up.. that can be the challenge! Well, dear readers; the dishes are calling my name and I really must attend them! Be blessed until next time!

Wake Me Up Inside..
I have heard this song many times on the radio, in video's paying tribute to our men and women in the armed forces, and in movies. When I heard it on the radio I thought.. hmm cool song. When I heard it in the different tribute video's I cried, thinking of all our military members who are giving so much so others can have more. When I heard it in movie's I thought.. interesting take on it. This morning I heard it again. And by the end of it I was broken. There we were sitting in our usual places, the song leaders for the youth service had graced us with their presence and as a whole, I don't think anyone was left wanting. In the youth service it is more of a jam session then the contemporary/traditional songs we adults usually sing. I have thoroughly enjoyed it in the past when the youth leaders are up. All of this aside; I once again felt humbled, challenged and encouraged all before my Bible was opened.
You see the song leader was speaking to us as a congregation but I knew that I had just shown up at a divine appointment. He spoke about how easy it is for us as a culture to put on a happy face, try to let every one think that everything is A-OK in our little corner of existence. When the truth of the matter is that we all struggle; we all have pain; we all need someone to not only encourage us, but to be an encouragement to. Some of the words to the song were changed, and therefore the meaning as a whole was changed. Instead of the song above asking some one to give them a wake-up call,it changed to us not only as sinners saved by grace but also to those who have yet to accept that grace asking our Abba Father to wake us up. Not only to to people we should be, but to the relationship we should have with him. There are so many things each of us deal with on a
What if we slowed things down? What if we really looked at people, beyond the surface and saw the load they were weighted under? Would we as believer's in Christ actually be Christ like? Would we be able to look beyond the sin and see the need? It is a challenge, one that I admit I fall short of. When I do fall short I am so thankful that His grace is sufficient, He is jealous for me and loves me so greatly I cannot begin to fathom it.
So here is the thought I leave you with dear readers. If you let the mask fall and allowed God to work through your needs, would not your testimony be all the more beautiful? He is there waiting for you to allow Him into all the secret places. God is the kindest gentleman and will never force himself on anyone, but if you will open your heart to him. Even those places that are buried so deep you can barely remember them.. I can

They are Two for a reason.. but could someone let me in on it??
My Bubbles is adorable, if I do say so myself. The problem is.. she knows it! The past few weeks she has been showing just how "adorable" she really is. .
I took this picture with my phone yesterday. Yesterday I got the wild hair to clean and de-clutter my bedroom. That got done. Bubbles got into the all-purpose flour while I was folding some towels and putting them away. Bubbles rattles my nerves, invades what little space I have at times, and will screech at any given moment (whether or not she was provoked). Bubbles has also become the pro-pouter in the house. If I ever thought of giving out an award for the best pouty face.. she would get it, and all the crocodile tears that come with it.
Bubbles also has a very catchy laugh. Her smile is addictive and her eyes light up my days even when they seem so dim. As her vocabulary grows, so does the sass. I try to nip that in the bud as much as I can, however.. this can be a challenge all it's own. I have seen her walk around the house with her hands planted firmly on her little hips, ready to give the first one she see's a good talking too. She provokes both Goosie and Miniman to the extreme's of their behavior and my sanity. That being said.. they do it to her too. I think it is just part of being siblings. Bubbles is also quite the monkey. I think she may be a gymnast when she gets older. With all the climbing, tumbling, standing on her head, balancing in precarious places that I must admit make my heart leap into my throat. Bubbles has the sweetest voice. When she sings it makes my heart smile. When she admits wrong-doing and apologizes, I think things will settle down for a bit. But there are times, she tests me. I partly think it is on purpose, and then I realize she is two.
At two for most little ones the world as you know it is your oyster or if you prefer bowl of cherries. There is much to explore and invade. Your imagination is taking root and slowly dragging you along. The wonderment of being a two year old. Seeing the world full of possibility and promise. To so many this age is out grown before they reach three. I hope that mine will hold on to it as long as possible. So here's to you Bubbles. I believe I nick-named you correctly. You are so full of bubbly life that it overflows and seeps into those around you, who at times have forgotten what it's all about.Well at least she knew where to put the mascara! There is never a dull day in the house with my three little ones. They are all growing and changing so much. I just pray that I can continue to keep up with them! Until next time dear readers.. I hope your day is Bubbly!

Make your life a joyful one...
God loves the lullaby in a mothers tear's in the dead of night,
better than a hallelujah sometimes.
God loves the drunkards cry, the soldiers plea not to let him die,
better than a hallelujah sometimes.*
(*)We pour out our miseries God just hears a melody
beautiful mess we are, the honest cries of breaking hearts
are better than a hallelujah
The woman holding on for life, the dieing man giving up the fight
are better than a hallelujah sometimes.
Tears of shame for what's been done, the silence when the words
won't come are better than a hallelujah sometimes*
Better than a church bell ringing, better than a choir singing out, singing out*
The woman holding on for life, the dieing man giving up the fight
are better than a hallelujah sometimes.
Tears of shame for what's been done, the silence when the words
won't come are better than a hallelujah sometimes*
Better than a church bell ringing, better than a choir singing out, singing out*
Amy Grant sings this song and I must admit that the first time I heard it I was driving. I had to pull over, I was so overcome with emotion. I can connect with almost all of the lines in the song. You could say she was singing my testimony. So I will share it with you.. line by wonderful line.
God loves the lullaby in a mother's tears in the dead of night.~ I have suffered from postpartum depression and remember holding my children many times (even now) asking God to help me.
God loves the drunkards cry, the soldiers plea not to let him die~ There was a time I was looking for love in all the wrong places. While I don't think I got entirely drunk, I did my share of drinking. ~ I have been praying for Hubby since almost the day he joined the ARMY. I didn't know him, I just knew I wanted to pray for him. Since Hubby and I have been together he and I have both come to a better relationship with the Lord.
The woman holding on for life, the dieing man giving up the fight~ At the age of 12 I suffered a severe migraine headache. The right side of my brain swelled to 1/2 it's normal size, my left lung collapsed. The doctors gave me less then a 10% chance of living through the night. The best outcome they had for me was a vegitiative state with no chance at a normal life. ~ Just recently my Gampa passed away. I am now one of the many walking around with no surviving grandparents.
Tears of shame for what's been done, the silence when the words won't come~ There have been things over the years I have been ashamed of. Weather it was my actions, words or any other number of things. But it was the conviction within me that caused me shame. ~ And yes, believe it or not there are times when the words can't be found. When I am left feeling so blessed or so broken that words would not begin to describe any of it. The only thing in those moments that escapes me is " Lord."
Better than a church bell ringing, better than a choir singing out~ While I have never so much as even played the bells in church, I do appreciate their solemn joyful sound. ~ I do enjoy singing if it's in the choir or by myself. I enjoy singing and lifting my voice to my Heavenly Father, sometimes it doesn't sound that wonderful to anyone else I am sure, but he said to make a joyful noise.. it doesn't have to be in key.
So there it is. My overwhelming emotion with this beautiful terrible song. Beautiful because it can speak to so many people in so many different ways, terrible because it can cut you to the quick in the simplest and nicest of ways all the while giving you the answer to relieve you of your suffering. If you didn't catch it, read the chorus again.
We pour out our miseries, God just hears a melody. Beautiful mess we are, honest cries of breaking hearts. Are better than a hallelujah.
You see God wants us to turn to him for everything. He doesn't want to be our last resort, he wants to be our first call. He wants to respond to us in our most desperate times, and he will respond in such a way that we will not be left bereft of anything. There is nothing that God can't handle. If you think that there is, you have put him in a box and are the one limiting him. God will never limit you. He will never leave you, he will never have anything but the best for you. There will be times you will go through what seems like the midst of fire, but it will be worth it. God has a master plan for each of our lives, the only thing he asks of us is the hardest thing for us as human's to do.. let it go. When you do let it go, it is better than a hallelujah, so make your life one of rejoicing.

Chocolate Banana Chip Pistachio Cookies
So there are times when I want to make cookies and don't always have all the stuff I need to make the cookies.. so I substitute. Thus a new cookie in my house is born. I had the idea to make Neman Marcus cookies, but upon searching my pantry discovered what I had forgotten. We ate almost all the oatmeal the other day for breakfast we were out of nuts ( unless you count my sanity and the pistachio's) and Bubbles had a baking powder party all by herself last week. Just so you know when the kids have a party with something it usually means they have made a complete and utter mess with it, so much so that even after sweeping/vacuuming/mopping I still find things weeks later. I still wanted these cookies. I still craved these cookies.. desire is the mother of invention.. that and a creative mind. So the cookies I ended up with are to the left.. and yes, they are wonderful! Chocolate Banana Chip Pistachio Cookies... and here my dearest readers is the recipe. It will make 56 cookies..like I stated before I wanted the Neman Marcus Cookies!

School, Church, and Passing On
School is back in session for Goosie. She has been counting down the days for weeks! Miniman keeps asking when he will go, and Bubbles is having fun playing with all the toys in the house she can get her hands on. Hubby is off to work before Goosie is one the bus, and for the most part ( at least yesterday and today) my plans are to clean the house to an acceptable level so that it stays basically clean. Sure in the summer there is a basic level of clean, but it is lower then the level of clean during the school year. My friend HW and I were discussing this the other day. During the school year there is structure and a higher level of clean all around. The kids for the most part are so mentally exhausted by the time they get home it's not hard to settle down for the night. During the summer it's different. For the most part ( in her house and mine) there isn't any structure and the kids are all about fun and mayhem. Isn't that what summer is supposed to be about?? Budgeting gets a little tighter in the summer and stress levels run a bit higher. But it's fun to have the kids home.. at least until you grow weary of it!
Hubby and I are going to be staying here longer then we thought. There was an opportunity to go to PA with his job, but he has decided to retire at the twenty year mark, instead of the twenty four year mark. So we will likely be here on the hill for another few years, or until the owners return, whichever comes first. I must admit that it will be nice not to move every eighteen to twenty two months! It gets tiring, to have to dig in to each new place and adjust the whole family is becoming more challenging. It will be nice to just stay a while. That being said we have decided to become members of our local church. We have been attending for two years and have plugged in to the various ways to serve there. It is refreshing. Membership is a big deal to me. I don't really feel that there is an expressent need to be a member of a church so long as you are a member of the body of Christ. In the two years we have been attending there has never been any pressure to become a member. And that in it's self is refreshing. I must also admit that it has been a blessing to me to be encouraged by so many in the church. Everywhere we have lived there has been a place we as a family has felt accepted and loved. Out current church home is no different. It is a big step for us, and one I am happy to take along with Hubby.
The current drive-in season is quickly coming to a close. I will once again be looking for part time evening work. To get me out of the house and to help a little. It is nice to get out there and get to know others outside of the white picket fence. A new set of neighbors have moved in next door. Honestly two have, but we have more in common with one set then we do the others. I finally was able to meet them at the bus stop yesterday morning. As first impressions go, they give a nice one and I am looking forward to the friendship that will hopefully bloom.
Nine years ago yesterday my Gamma, went to a place of no suffering or pain. Sunday night Gampa joined her. I can't begin to imagine how my Mom, Aunts and Uncles are feeling right now. Gampa will be traveling back to Gamma's resting place and there will be buried next to her. I am now one of the many who have no surviving grandparents. I am thankful I was able to meet mine. Gamma taught me to watercolor paint, and when I feel the need to do more then just stand up for myself.. I have a feeling that is Gampa. When those we love cross over I don't believe they are ever really gone. They are just a thought away, you can close your eyes and they are right there. My heavenly Father is like that in many ways. He is only one prayer away.. mostly he is closer.. only a thought.
Well dear reader's I have a mountain of housework to get done today and I hope you are all blessed, until next time.
